He came the wrong way up an exit ramp, ran over a guard rail with his trailer, backed up halfway down the ramp, then just said fuck it and drove over the curb to get out.

This is why I laugh whenever truck drivers bitch about “sToOoOpId ‘4 wHeElUrZ ’”. Yeah, I’ve seen people do dumb stuff in cars, but I’ve seen much dumber things done on a much larger scale by tractor/trailer operators . I only drove trucks for a very short while, but I didn’t find it to be THAT difficult.

This sounds like it took work. Can you provide a Google map location so that one may try to imagine how it happened?

What part of town was this?

How do you come up the wrong of an exit ramp?

I think truck drivers are in general much better drivers than the population as a whole. But they have to be because a poorly driven semi can really fuck things up, and it’s definitely scary when you encounter one.

Idunno... I don’t think they’re any better or worse than the general driving public. There are good ones, and there are horrible ones. On my drive through the snow on Monday I definitely saw more semis in the ditch than on the road, and the roads weren’t that bad.
One thing I think we can all agree on it that 9 times out of 10 a car with an Uber or Lyft placard is going to be driven very poorly by a very lost driver.

easy... just drive on the dutch side of the road in england assuming nothing hits you first that should do the trick just fine

There has been a lot of press lately about the dearth of OTR truckers in the US. We may soon (or already) be expanding the driver pool with some very green drivers.

I'm just astonished it wasn't Swift this time.

Yeah, I’ve seen those. And to be frank, I’d be wary about a career in trucking with the prospect of self-driving trucks seemingly not far off. If potential drivers feel the same, that might also lower the quality of those training for a CDL.

Exactly, surely to go up the wrong way of an off ramp, the truck would of had to of been driving on the wrong side of the carriageway and somebody would of seen and reported it.

coulda crossed to do it if its an on ramp from a smaller both ways connecting road
why he’d do that... i dont know... pretty major brainfart

Why wouldn’t the driver just take the extra on their side of the road?
Some drivers are just so stupid.

*sigh* Because truck drivers are in demand right now, they’ll hire just about anybody...

It’s a little more complicated than that. Let’s a take a look at the bigger picture:
This is what it used to look like. Traffic was allowed in both directions all the way up to Windy Hill Road. They changed it by installing a roundabout at the blue circle and not allowing northbound traffic north of the roundabout.
This is what it used to look like before the roundabout was installed:
That’s facing north. It looks like they are getting ready to change the traffic flows.
Now i
magine being a truck driver who had been up this road in the old configuration and is now faced with an unclear layout and a new roundabout that is supposed to make him turn around and go south again.
I wonder if the roundabout even has enough room to turn around a sleeper tractor with a 40' trailer. I think the driver was screwed as soon as he turned north on Interstate North Parkway West.

I was guessing it was off 75. I can understand how he got on the wrong ramp now . K ind of odd during the day, but happens quite a bit at night. Remember that bus of base ball players that launched off the Northside Dr. overpass a few years back?

Ah, now I understand the error location was at the round-about. Thank you!

This is what happens when they started putting automatics in semis.....
